Friday Favorite – Free Hug Sofa

Yes, yes, yes! If you’re an avid reader like myself, you know that the struggle is real. Especially when you also just happen to be slightly on the short side in a country of giants. At 1.55 or 5’1 I stand a good 20 cm below most of my female friends, and at least 30 below the guys. Talking to people in loud bars is nearly impossible, which is why I dance. But that’s not the struggle I’m talking about. I’m talking about sitting.

Yes, you heard that right. Sitting often sucks. On couches the back end is so far back that there’s no way I can actually rest against it while still being able to bend my knees. So I either sit up straight and active like an unmarried Victorian-era fifth daughter visiting a Duchess, or with my legs sticking out in front of me, waving the soles of my shoes to everyone else in the room.

Let’s just say that I prefer armchairs with high (and pillowy!) sides in which I can comfortably curl up for about an hour and a half. That’s when the amount of blood to my feet has been so low for such a long time that they start to turn black. Okay, that’s not actually true, but I do have a bad knee after climbing a mountain with no training a few years back, so bending and twisting it at the same time for too long is rather unpleasant.

I do however love a good day or even weekend of book reading, so an hour and a half really is too short a period to be able to sit comfortably for my liking. Well, I have not to worry: the amazing Lee Eun Kyoung has now designed the Free Hug Sofa.

Check out this darling thing, comfortable, fluffy, and totally spot on with the whole faux fur / everything shaggy trend. Also, it very much reminds me of this movie car, which is always a plus.

The free hug sofa lets you wrap yourself inside of it, and if even the most agreeable of positions starts to become unpleasant, you just change its structure to suit you again. I might just be in love.

Well, I am in love of course – with the boyfriend. But if you do not happen to have a boyfriend to get cozy with, this is even more of a musthave. Imagine snuggling up to this chair, pretending it to be Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, or, say, Tom Hardy. Maybe even Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

You know what, thinking of it the boyfriend actually spends quite a lot of time gaming or otherwise engaged with his computer. I think I’ll get the free hug sofa for pretend snuggling myself.

So what are your thoughts on this? Do you want a free hug sofa?
